Our Story

In 2005, Dr. Chris Centeno and Dr. John Schultz, physicians in a small two-person pain management clinic in Colorado, pioneered the specialty of Interventional Orthopedics. They were the first in the world to apply stem cells from bone marrow concentrate to treat many orthopedic injuries. Two years later, they completed a two-year, IRB-approved research study of the use of both culture-expanded and same-day stem cells to treat knee and hip arthritis and low-back degenerative disc disease.

Then in 2009 a world-class lab was unveiled at Regenexx’s Colorado headquarters allowing further in-depth research on orthobiologic opportunities. The unveiling was closely followed by the addition of the first affiliate physician in New York in 2011.

Today Regenexx is known as the “Trusted Alternative to Orthopedic Surgery” with more than 80 Regenexx affiliates and over 100 highly-trained physicians treating dozens of orthopedic conditions.

Patient Registry2005

Regenexx begins its Patient Registry – a database for tracking patient outcomes.

Regenexx ® C2006

Regenexx C (cultured) begins in Colorado.

Regenexx Publications2006

Regenexx releases the first of its free publications – A collection that will ultimately include both Free Reports and Free eBooks.

IRB Study2007

Regenexx unveils their world-class laboratory at its Broomfield, Colorado headquarters, lead by a doctorate-level research team.

Regenexx-SD, a same-day, orthopedic stem cell treatment, begins.

First Affiliate Physician2011

Dr. Rob Kramberg of the Rehabilitation Medical Center of New Jersey, is brought in as the first affiliate to the Regenexx Network.
