Orthopedic Surgery Research vs. Regenexx
According to a 2020 BMJ meta-analysis, “the lack of strong evidence for many common orthopedic surgeries raises serious concerns about their effectiveness.” The review of 10 common surgeries showed that most of these procedures don’t have solid proof of being more effective than non-surgical treatments. Despite this, some surgeries are still recommended in national guidelines.
Ultimately, we at Regenexx believe that orthopedic surgery is overused and misused because it’s often viewed as the last or only option. As innovators in musculoskeletal care, Regenexx offers a different option.
